About Us
About Fivers Institute
At Fivers Technical and Vocational Training Institute, we are dedicated to empowering individuals through comprehensive vocational education and training. Founded in 2020 by Mr. Raytone, our journey began with a single mini laptop and a passion for technology. With his experience in various IT firms, Mr. Raytone aimed to make a positive impact in his community by offering computer classes to a small group of enthusiastic learners.
Over the years, our commitment to education and skills development has fueled our remarkable growth. Despite initial challenges and limited resources, we persevered, continuously adapting and expanding our educational offerings to better serve the community. By 2023, our humble beginnings had blossomed into a thriving institution, and today, we proudly serve a diverse and growing student body.

Our Commitment
We are committed to:
Offering comprehensive programs in various fields including Construction and Building Technology, Automotive Engineering, Information Technology, Fashion and Textile, Culinary Arts, Health and Community Services, Business and Management as well as Engineering among others; While these courses provide critical skills for local students, FTVTI also presents a unique opportunity to collaborate with international institutions, enhancing the educational experience and expanding the global impact of its training programs. Here’s how FTVTI’s programs can link with international schools for further studies and create a broader impact across Africa and other continents:
1. Linking with International Schools for Further Studies
FTVTI can establish partnerships with international technical and vocational institutions and universities to provide pathways for advanced studies. Such collaborations can offer the following benefits:
- Credit Transfer and Articulation Agreements: FTVTI could work with international institutions to develop credit transfer systems that allow graduates of its programs to continue their studies abroad without repeating courses. For example, a student who completes a course in Electrical Installation at FTVTI could transfer credits to a partner institution in Canada or Germany to pursue an advanced diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Joint Certification Programs: By collaborating with international schools, FTVTI could offer joint certification programs. This would enable students to earn dual qualifications recognized both in Kenya and internationally, enhancing their employability and ability to work across borders.
- Exchange Programs and Internships: Establishing exchange programs can allow students from FTVTI to gain international exposure and experience by studying or interning abroad. Conversely, international students could come to Kenya to understand the unique challenges and opportunities within the African construction and building and other courses sectors. This exchange can foster cross-cultural learning, innovation, and skill-sharing.
2. Global Impact of FTVTI’s Courses
FTVTI’s specialized courses can have a significant impact not only in Africa but also globally. Here’s how:
- Addressing Global Skills Shortages: Many countries face shortages in skilled trades such as for example masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical installation, and welding. By training students to international standards, FTVTI can help fill these gaps, supplying skilled professionals who are ready to work anywhere in the world.
- Promoting Sustainable Development: With a focus on sustainable practices, FTVTI can play a crucial role in promoting environmentally friendly building techniques. By training students in a course like sustainable fashion and construction, FTVTI supports global efforts to reduce carbon footprints and promote green construction practices. International collaboration could further enhance this by incorporating the latest global advancements in sustainable building technologies.
- Empowering African Development: As Africa continues to develop rapidly, the demand for skilled labor in the technology as well as construction sector is rising. FTVTI’s programs can provide the necessary skills to drive infrastructure development across the continent. Moreover, by linking with international schools, FTVTI can incorporate global best practices, ensuring that the workforce it produces is equipped to meet international standards.
- Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Through partnerships with international institutions, FTVTI can integrate innovative teaching methods and technologies from around the world. This exposure can help students develop a global perspective, encouraging them to apply their skills in new and creative ways, both within Africa and internationally. Graduates could become innovators and entrepreneurs who contribute to solving global challenges in sustainable development.
3. Creating an Educational Hub for International Students
FTVTI can position itself as a hub for international students interested in learning within an African context:
- Offering Unique Learning Experiences: International students can benefit from learning techniques that are tailored to the African climate and available materials to withstand local weather conditions or using sustainable, locally-sourced materials.
- Cultural Exchange and Knowledge Transfer: By attracting international students, FTVTI can facilitate cultural exchange and knowledge transfer, where diverse perspectives and experiences enrich the learning environment for all students. This can lead to more innovative solutions to career challenges, both locally and globally.
- Collaborative Research Opportunities: Partnerships with international schools could also foster collaborative research projects focused on areas like sustainable building practices, climate-resilient infrastructure, and affordable housing. Such initiatives could benefit Africa and other regions with similar challenges, promoting knowledge exchange and shared learning.
Conclusion
By linking with international schools and offering globally relevant training, Fivers Technical and Vocational Training Institute (FTVTI) can significantly impact the industry both in Africa and worldwide. Through partnerships, student exchanges, and joint certification programs, FTVTI can enhance its educational offerings, attract a diverse student body, and contribute to global skills development and sustainable practices. This approach not only enriches the learning experiences of students but also positions FTVTI as a leader in vocational education with a global perspective.
